James Mercer  (Eli)

is a musician (best known for his role as frontman of platinum-selling recording artists The Shins) and actor. He has composed original scores for film, including 2004's "Towlines" and that same year's "American Nutria", and his music has been featured in several movies and television shows, including the 2004 hit film "Garden State" and the 2005 film "Winter Passing", as well as in hit TV shows "The Sopranos", "Gilmore Girls" and "Saturday Night Live", which Mercer has also performed on. He has acted The Shins' videos "Australia", "Phantom Limb", "Saint Simon" and others. Mercer currently lives in Portland, Oregon.
